Your Journey to Healing

Hi! I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, who believes that healing starts with a genuine human connection. If we learned anything from the COVID lockdown, it is that we need human connection. We learned that being away from others increases anxiety and contributes to depression. I do believe that therapy hits differently when you are in a room with an individual who wants to help you, doesn’t judge you, can handle whatever you believe you can never tell anyone or maybe never have told anyone.

I am person-focused and believe that I need to meet the client where they are, collaborate on goals and move forward together. From trauma, to anxiety, to depression to PTSD, to everyday stressors to life transitions, I offer evidence-based therapies that have been shown through research replication to be effective.

I also believe that building the therapeutic relationship is essential and it can take some time. My style is easy and compassionate. I will not push or pressure, especially if you have a history of trauma. Sometimes people want to go fast in order to feel better quickly, and I will help you pace the process.

I have been providing therapy for more than 25 years and have worked with people from many cultures, backgrounds and walks of life. What I have learned is that we all want the same things; love, to feel a sense of belonging, to be accepted for who we are deep down inside.

I would love to meet with you so we can either start or continue your healing journey together.

Specialties

I would consider myself a trauma specialist. It has been my area of focus for more than 25 years. I have worked with men and women who have endured combat trauma, sexual assault trauma and childhood traumas. I have worked with first responders to include police, fire and EMT’s. I have worked with emergency room physicians, and nurses to include community care, military hospitals and combat situations. I have also worked with regular folks who have endured insidious, neglectful and emotional cumulative adversities.

I have spent years training and learning skills to help alleviate the symptoms associated with trauma such as, trauma-informed neuroscience, cognitive behavioral therapy for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy, (CPT), prolonged exposure therapy, (PE), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Because trauma also lives in the body, I also offer biobehavioral therapies. If you chose to work with me, we will discuss which therapy will work best for you.

I became certified in EMDR in 2015 and am now working on becoming an EMDR consultant in order to help other clinicians become certified in EMDR. I believe in maintaining the fidelity of EMDR protocols and will provide consultation in that way.

Additionally, I am a state approved clinical supervisor and have been supervising associate licensees for approximantely 20 years.
